Look your age.

All my life I have looked younger than I actually am. Though it was frustrating, I secretly enjoyed it. When I graduated college, people thought I was graduating high school. When I was at Starbucks doing Greek homework for my masters degree a lady came up to me and said, "I didn't know they were teaching Greek in high school!" I always get carded and one lady almost refused to sell me beer, but after looking at 3 forms of ID she obliged. I was 24 at the time.
On the exact day I turned 26 all of this stopped. We were in the coffee shop in the hotel lobby and as I ordered my cup of joe, Garth told the barista today was my birthday. She looked at me and wished me a happy birthday and said "So you're 21 today right?" In a tone that said there is NO way I could be 21. Ouch. I guess those good old days are gone.

At least people aren't assuming your 30+. Younger is better!! this means when you are 50 you will look 40. Score!!

Love this post!!! I have been mistaken for a student at my childs elementary school...at a restaurant they ask my husband if it was him and "2 kids"....sooo funny. I always hated it when I was in high school, but now that I am almost 30 I am totally loving every min of it!

Haha...people always guess my age dead on! At least they don't think I'm older I guess...

lol... i have the same problem, but i actually don't enjoy it - probably cause all my siblings are way older i had it stuck in my head that older was better from a young age :-)

Aww! Well atleast she didn't say you were 30! :)

Aww, I feel bad, but I'm kind of jealous at the same time. People usually think I'm 16 (I'm 24). It's embarrassing! I guess there are pros and cons to looking older or younger. Most of the time I don't think I get taken seriously. But maybe that's why I like to blog. It's fun being able to share your thoughts without judgment!

Ha! This is so me too! I got carded at an "R" Movie when I was 21! I was like, "excuse me? I look 16?!"

I'm getting this less and less though. I think being with my husband makes me look older plus my ring gives it away too. Being married in Los Angeles generally means that you're at least 25.

Aww! You'll get over it!

I get this every day I have a sixteen and thirteen year old poor Johnny everyone thinks we are all his kids!

Girl..... I get that all the time. I look way younger then my age, but I just keep telling myself that's going to work to my advantage when I get older, haha!!

When I have people guess my age, they usually say 24-26, which makes me happy considering that I just turned 31 (they could just be lying). I just hope that when I'm even older that I still look a little younger.

I have always been the same way!

Sadly, people have always thought I looked older. They always said "Wow, you're that young, you just seem so mature." I wonder what I'll look like at 40? Hopefully mature but not OLD!

hey! you will appreciate this later in life! you have awesome genes!

I still look like I'm in high school. I volunteer as a stunt spotter at local HS cheerleading competitions and we have to wear plain white t-shirts and black shorts on more than one occasion someone has stopped me to tell me that my squad can get deducted points if I'm not in uniform. Then I have to smile politely and say I'm working the event and I'm 24. They usually blush and then run away fast. I don't mind I'm so used to it.

LOve your blog! Stop by mine, I have something for you.

I wish I had the same problem. My older sister and I were over two years apart and people would always ask us which one of us is older. {sigh} :P

Girrrrrllll.... when you hit 30, you'll KNOW you're not in your 20's anymore -- Well... unless you keep up your workouts! HA!!

Oh no! I would've been like "Nope, 20 - but you were close!" and just walked away with a smug grin on my face. I get it all the time, too (the looking younger thing), but I know it'll change eventually. Not sure that I want it to as now it helps me not feel as old!!

I am starting to get carded less and less, it's a sad day...LOL

Oh, I'd have punched him. He was probably the young one. I find all my highschool students are the only ones who think I look old!

I was in my mid 30's when this happened to me finally. (I hated it) It was this past year. I was pregnant (my baby is now 3 weeks old) and the kids in youthgroup (my husband is the director) for the first time guessed my age. They all used to think I weas in my early 20's and thought I was younger that the 26 year old that is also in youth working with us. But all of a sudden they can all guess my age. I was devastated.

I've always been mistaken for younger than I really am, too. On my 26th birthday I looked like a hag from pulling an all-nighter. On my 28th birthday I looked much better. Things can turn around!

Haha...yup I secretly love being carded at the ripe old age of 26--it certainly makes me feel younger1

Man, I know the feeling. I have always looked 12 - I get carded all the time and get asked my age a lot. But the other day somebody thought I was 29. 29?!?!?! I have MAYBE one wrinkle. SERIOUSLY?!

my students always guess im either 16 or 100.....that's 7 years olds for you....

I still think you look young and great! I used to get that I look young (especially if my hair is long), but the worst is that I sound young on the phone. Seriously, people ask to speak to the lady of the house when I answer, and it is me!

awww...lucky girl to have such great genes!

Don't let the one guy get you down. I am 45 and still get carded once in a while! Yipee

Oh no, people always think I'm older than I actually am. I always say it's because I'm so mature! Ha!

Aw! I wouldn't be too offended by just one person though! You still look pretty young to me in your pictures!

I have the same problem, too. I'm 23 but people always think I'm about 18. It drives me crazy though! I even got a few comments about how young I must be when I was trying on wedding dresses. They clearly thought I was still in high school!

Megan said...

Ha! I think you still look young for your age - which is a compliment, even though its annoying sometimes! I have had the same 'problem' in the past but it is going away with age - weird on that happens.

You're a beauty at any age!

(Everyone thinks J is WAY younger than me... *ahem I turn 32 on Thursday and J is 37................*)

ha!

I was in the same predicament as you were. If I have no makeup on, I look like I'm 21 and not 25. I get carded everywhere we go every time.

But there is a plus side, I say that when I'm 40 and look like I'm 35, everyone else will be jealous.

:)

Annie said...

i get that all the time as well...something about being 26 now just makes me feel older.
i'm glad the lady didn't guess you were older than you are though, it could've been worse! ;)

Unknown said...

I know exactly what you mean. The same thing happened to me when I reached 26. Now, I'm told that I look 23. Not nearly as fun as 21, or my favorite, 16.

Ha! Getting old is a sonofa.... :)

awww, its okay. Everyone goes through it and I know that day will hit me soon enough!

Welcome to my world! ha ha. I've always looked older than I am but I think its just about evening out now to where I look my age.

Brooke said...

yikes!

i've always been one of those people too. someone thought that i was working at my job through the co-op program where high school students get to leave early to get on the job training - i was 25 at the time.

when i stood up to go get my boss she said "oh, well now i can see that you're older"

:| not sure what that's suppose to mean. high school girls have big hips too.

Hey! I just wanted to let you know I have an award for you on my blog!

I've really noticed the same thing lately. No one used to believe me and now sometimes they don't even bother carding.

Anonymous said...

aww I'm sorry! I have always looked younger and at 24 I still don't like it! One time in VS the lady didn't believe me that I was over 18 :( Although, everyone says one day I will love it, haha. But the lady was just having an off day and you still look younger than you are, especially because you enjoy it :)

That's funny. I've been just the opposite, people think that I'm older than I am. You and I are the same age, though. I turned 26 this summer, too.

I totally have the same thing- I guess I only have one more year of looking young?
