Peanut Butter.

We were married and went to Hawaii for two whole weeks. It was bliss. It was the most beautiful place we had ever been. We are pretty easy going so we agreed on everything. Wanna go to the beach? Yep. Wanna go out to eat? Yep. Wanna watch a movie? Sure. We were having the time of our lives.
Fast forward to the end of our honeymoon and we went grocery shopping and for the first time in 2 weeks we didn't agree...on peanut butter. I wanted crunchy and he wanted regular. I didn't want to compromise and neither did he. We just stood there staring at the peanut butter, not sure what to do. We had agreed on everything for two entire weeks and this was unfamiliar to us. Eventually, we realized we could buy both and have "his" and "her" peanut butter. Duh.

Mr. Potts isn't picky about peanut butter, thankfully!

My husband is lucky, I don't like peanut butter so he was happy as can be because he felt like that was the only thing he had full control over when we go grocery shopping. lol

This made me laugh.. David likes crunchy and I only eat creamy. It's also like that for brands of ketchup, cereal, icecream...and so much more- we spend a lot of money on food. :-)

Haha...I love this! We're not huge peanut butter eaters but that definitely sounds like something we would not be willing to compromise on! However, I always do the grocery shopping without him(by his request)so he just has to deal with whatever I bring home!

heehee too funny. I am picturing you just standing there, dumbfounded...like 'now what?' Glad you worked it out...compromise is healthy at times :)

We have lots of stuff that's just his food and that's just mine. Though I am not a big peanut butter fan so he can have all of that.

ha! We have his and hers PB too!

That's so cute! We have "his" and "her" butter lol. I bet Hawaii was amazing...I've always wanted to go!

I love your stories, Lindsey! Being in Hawaii for 2 weeks must have been amazing. We hope to go there before we have kids.

This brought back memories from when husband and I went grocery shopping together for the first time for our (then) new house. It was a nightmare. He didn't like certain things, I wanted a different brand etc.
Thanks for bringing back the memories!

Hahaha, Jon and I are opposite, I like creamy he likes EXTRA crunchy. Sometimes I can compromise and get regular crunchy. :)

Ha! Love it. Luckily, both my husband and I like crunchy--but, I keep regular on hand for cooking and whatnot.

Thanks for stopping by! Isn't it funny what people are particular about? Luckily for The Boyfriend and I the things I don't budge on (Dawn Soap) and the things he doesn't (Q-Tips, Tide) don't overlap!

Have you ever had almond butter? It is awesome!

LOL.... isn't marriage funny? Some things you dont HAVE to compromise on, and that's just perfect.

Ha! That's too funny. At least you agree on the important stuff right? :)

Lacey said...

It's always the small things, right?! Hubby and I share the same religion, political beliefs, values, etc. but we cannot agree on where something goes in the cabinet! By the way, it sounds like you had a fabulous honeymoon!

We had the SAME DISAGREEMENT!!

And you knwo what else? Whether or not to put Ketchup in the fridge. I know... I know... you're all thinking it's suposed to go in there, but it doesn't HAVE to be refridgerated! I grew up on room temp. ketchup. Why would you want COLD ketchup on HOT food? I don't get it.

I know you want to - go read the bottle... it says "refridgerate for best results" on SOME of them, and nothing on others. But NONE of them say "refridgerate after opening", I guearantee it!!

So we had his an hers ketchup AND peanut butter for a while. :-)

Has anyone told you lately how adorable the both of you are?! Can't wait to see your new place!

I think this is way more common than anyone realizes. I'd like to see a study on gender preferences for peanut butter.

Fortunately for my husband, who likes creamy, I just plain old like PB and don't particularly care if it's creamy or crunchy as long as he's not allergic so we can have it in the house. And I love this story- it's fun when you throw the random tidbits in!

LOL it's the little things right??

Cute story - Bret is the pickest eater EVER and doesn't like peanut butter, peanuts, nothing. So no worries here!

too funny! That us but with ice cream. lol. He loves only dark chocolate and i love vanilla mixed with fudge. so we have his and hers. :)

I loved this!

When we got back from our honeymoon, the first thing we did too was head to the grocery store. I can confidently say we had our first married fight down those aisles! You learn so much more about someone once you fill a fridge together :)

Kelly said...

Oh it is so funny to find out these little things. Somethings we don't budge on and just get both and sometimes one of us compromises. I compromise on what kind of syrup and he compromises on what kind of butter.

Mrs. Nurse said...

I love crunch peanut butter too. That makes me crave a sandwhich. Ya'll remind me of Mr. Nurse & I.. we couldn't agree on curtains. Finally another store later we found a set!

LOL!that was funny!Such a cute story.

Me and hubs too have diff tastes so we try to compromise(or atleast I make him do it ..grin)

That is a great story! It illustrates perfectly how 2 people can be the smae yet so different. I prefer chunky myself, and hubs prefers creamy.

How funny...lol. The joy of being married! You know...while many couples dread this...it's what makes us unique! I've learned so much from my hubby because he's taught me that there's so much more to life! We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon as well...Mauii..we loved it and went back a second time!!!

Five years later, we still run into stuff like this! After overhauling the way I eat, I have started using a lot of the Walden Farms calorie free products, and my husband won't go near 'em. We have a whole his/hers section in the pantry! :)

Thank goodness Husby eats whatever I buy :)
