When you know you've been married for awhile...

Before I was married I had to sleep in pitch darkness and complete silence. I married a man who had to have the TV on when he went to sleep.
So last night I stayed up to watch the rest of American Idol (YAYAYA Matt, Danny, Allsion, and Adam!!!) and Garth went to bed. I came to bed when Garth was already asleep and the TV had already shut off. I was excited to fall asleep the way I used to...except I couldn't fall asleep!!! I tossed and turned for about 20 minutes, then finally gave in and turned the TV on. I fell fast asleep.
I guess it's true when they say you become more like your spouse the longer you're married. And I'm okay with that.

I MUST sleep with noise and Hubby wants silence.....well over the years he has learned to love noise too :)

That's so funny! I feel the same way...we are both giving in on things and not realizing it...so we're becoming like each other! I kinda like it...because we're doing it out of love...and not thinking of it like, "I have to do this because I know my husband like it" but more like, "I know this will make him happy!"

So cute! My hubby wasn't used to snuggling when we first got married, and I broke him in well, because now if I roll away he is worried I am upset and pulls up against him again... hehe!

It's funny how you get used to each other's habits!

Zane's had to put up with the tv on too. It's a MUST for me!

Good job adapting. If my husband had to have loud noise to fall asleep I'd probably kill him. Lucky for me, we both prefer to feel like we're sleeping in a crypt.

I heard that the longer a couple is married the more they start to look like each other. LOL It's a good thing he got his hair cut yesterday!

I have to sleep with a fan on or I can't sleep at all, my hubby has learned to sleep that way too...lol.

I have to sleep with my nice ole' tower fan on..or I will toss & turn all night! David is slowly getting used to it---I think.

I have to sleep with the TV for sure! But since we don't have satellite or cable, I always wake up with the menu from whatever dvd we are watching and end up playing it over and over again!

I'm like your husband and my husband is like you! Sad to say that given our life I'm very used to sleeping by myself and i must admit i find it hard to sleep when he's actually home. And he finds it hard because i figure I might as well chatter if I'm awake! But you know you've been married a while when your love puts up with it.

very true! I find myself using the same hand motions matt uses when he gets really into telling a story. I love it, it cracks me up!

This makes me laugh so hard! Your 'story' is exactly. like. mine and D's -- I must say, though... I still want complete darkness and quiet! LOL

This is too funny and so true!! I ALWAYS fell asleep to the sound of a fan growing up. When we were married my hubs asked me to please try and not have it on for the first month. I'm completely fine without it now! BUT, I do miss it at times. Ooohhh the sacrifices for love! :o)

haha, my husband had to get used to a fan being on, I have to have some kind of constant noise

LOL!!! It is true that if you get out of routine it will mess you up. Brian (my hubby) had a motorcycle accident before I met him and has a bad hip because of it. This requires him to sleep on the floor. Well...since we've been married he sleeps in front of the television on the floor in another room. So when he decides to actually sleep in the bed with me it throws me all off. I do enjoy snuggling up to him but it makes it so hard to sleep since he's normally not there. {HUGS}

I can sleep either way but that is funny the way we sometimes change our habits!

I'm the opposite. I need noise and he likes silence. We have come to a happy medium where we have the tv on super low :)

That's precious! I wouldn't mind being more like my husband either.

I MUST have silence and complete darkness when I sleep. I can't imagine giving that up when/if I get married!! Props to you for making that sacrifice. They say that once you do soemthing for 30 days or something, it becomes a habit. I guess it's just a matter of actually getting through the 30 days...haha.

That's so cute! Glad you got a good night's sleep with the tv singing you lullabies!

Too funny. That used to be me too! I've gotten so used to going to sleep with sound on that I have a hard time sleeping without it.

Ha. I am quite worried at the thought of reconciling RYan and I's sleeping differences once we get married. You give me hope!

You make me laugh girl :) I used to sleep in pitch black and no noise, but now I like the tv on while drifting off :)

It's funny the small things that change as you're with someone for a long period of time!

I always think how different life would be with a tv in our bedroom. we always fall asleep talking.

Aww, that's cute. Before we were married I always used to have to have the TV on to fall asleep, and I think Luke was the same way. But we got married and moved in together, and we don't have a TV in our room so we both had to learn to sleep without it. Luckily I can fall asleep in just about any conditions. My problem is trying to stay awake sometimes :-P
