Suite!!!

My work surprised me with a suite at the gorgeous Inn at St. John's for our wedding night. It was gorgeous!! Our biggest regret was we didn't get to spend more time in it! We were literally only awake for 2 hours and then up at dawn to catch our flight to Hawaii. We wished we had more time to enjoy that suite! But since the suite was $600 a night we didn't think we would be back anytime soon...

Fast forward to Friday night. Garth had made a reservation at St. John's to celebrate our one year. He had reserved the cheapest room, which is still lovely! We excitedly pulled up to the hotel to check-in. Garth jokingly said "It's our one year, can you bump us up to the presidential suite?" To which the man replied, "You're in a room just like it." WHAT??? We think he was joking and proceeded to the 7th floor.

In the elevator we were thinking, "Aren't the suites on the 7th floor?? Did he make a mistake?" We make our way down the hallway and sure enough, it's the Ambassador suite. The EXACT SAME SUITE we stayed in on our wedding night. I yelled "Oh my gosh Garth!! Did you surprise me with the same suite we had?!?!" Garth's face drops and he feels horrible as he said, "I'm sorry, but I didn't. I'm not paying $600 for this room, there has been a mistake."

We went back to the front desk and explain there has been a mistake because we reserved a regular room. The man just smiled and said, "There has not been a mistake. You have been upgraded...I wasn't joking when I said you had a room similar to the Presidential!" We were beside ourselves with excitement! We finally got to enjoy our wedding night suite!!!!

Are you wondering who upgraded us? So were we. I only told two people. I quickly called my mom and she said it wasn't her. I knew who it was then. See, I do many events at St. John's and work closely with the catering manager. I had been working with her that day to finalize a contract and had mentioned we were staying at St. John's tonight. I was only trying to get a free dessert from the restaurant! I didn't know she was going to look up where we stayed last year and suprise us with the same room!!! AMAZING!!!!

We didn't want to leave the room - so we didn't! Room service is fab.

Sunday we went to church with my family and had lunch with them. My mom and dad are so creative! This is what they gave us for our one year, aka "Paper Anniversary."

We were so blessed, or as Garth's mom says, "spoiled." Ha! We certainly were and it was one weekend we won't soon forget!
