Kitchen Disaster

The day started out great. I drank my morning coffee while reading Twilight (my new addiction). Then I had an amazing 2 hour workout and was feeling inspired to make lunch before getting to work (I work from home on Wednesdays).
I decided to make this 7 grain organic rice for lunch...Now I hesitate to write the next part of the story because this truly shows my domestic inadequacy, but here it goes...
The directions were complicated (no pictures) and I used the wrong pan, thus burning the rice, and started a mini fire on my stove. Not to mention that I wasted an entire box of potentially delish rice.
Now it's nearly been three hours since the mishap and I haven't had anything to eat. I am surrending and ordering thai food.

Ahh I'm so sorry! I hate it when I have cooking accidents. One time I forgot to drain the meat because I was so caught up w/everything else. Let me just say that meal wasn't very tasty and we didn't eat much of it! At least your house doesn't smell like smoke or anything like that. I have some other cooking disaster stories, but I'll leave those for another time! haha :)

Just know that you aren't the only one!

Wow, reminds me of the tales my old roommate would tell of her catching a pancake on fire. I just always pictured this flamming pancake sitting in the middle of a big pan.

It could be worse, you could not know how to boil and egg...my poor brother's girlfried doesn't.....and if you don't then at least you're not alone! ;D

And aaaaeeee for twilight!!! I wish I was you and had just started reading those wonderfully addicting books!!! Seriously, addicting! :)

First, I'm shocked that you were able to put Twilight down and go to work. Bravo!

Second, rice isn't as easy as it looks. Take it from a H.I.T. I've had to throw away a pan before. True story.

Oh no! That totally sounds like me! BTW, Twilight is the BEST!!!

Hilarious!!

I tried to make dinner once. I picked spinach pasta because I figured I would just need to boil needles then add spinach on top.

Tell me why it took me 45 minutes, flour everywhere, and four green "fingers" coming out of a pot for me to realize I just made pasta. Or attempted. The hubs wouldn't even try it.

I don't blame him.

See why I don't cook?!?

Oh Lindsey... LOL I made this new dish from a recipe and the recipe wasnt very specific. I had the liquid boiling on the stove and the recipe called for eggs at the end. So I cracked my eggs in a bowl, mixed them up and poured them into the hot liquid. What I didnt know is that you are supposed to temper the cold ingredience with some of the warm. So I ended up with scrambled eggs in my food!!

Courtney said...

bahaha.. I hate when that happens! Take out's always good though!!

bless your heart!! at least you tried :)

It had to have been Twilight's fault! I swear, Stephenie Meyer sprinkled a little crach into her books so we would ALL become addicted!
