Stellar Wife?

Sunday morning we are standing by the coffee shop at church when a guy comes up to us and asks if any of us have broken any resolutions. Everyone is saying no, so I tell him that yes I have broken my resolution to be more domestic. He proceeds to tell me to stand right there while he gets the video camera so he can interview me live when the service starts. WHAT?!?!
So I made Garth stand next to me and hold my hand as I proclaimed to all these people (seriously like 1,000 people) that I have failed at being domestic. I have not cooked or baked ANYTHING for my husband in 2009.
After announcing this to the whole church I'm feeling kinda bad. Garth works and goes to school full-time so I could make him some nice meals instead of buying premade burritos and soups for him to take.
Yesterday I whipped up this healthy pasta dish with whole grain noodles, tomatoes, peppers, basil leaves (do you know how hard it was to find basil leaves at the grocery store?!), and olive oil. I even made a delicious low-fat Caesar salad to go along with it!!! (Are you impressed yet?)
I packed it nicely in tupperware and sent it off to work with Garth so he would have a healthy, warm homemade lunch.
He did sneak some yesterday as a snack when he got home from school and he LOVED it!
I'm thinking I'm a pretty stellar wife, no?=)

Stellar wife indeed! That pasta dish sounds delicious. I agree though, it is so hard to find basil leaves in the grocery store.

It's funny how expensive basil is in the store. It's so easy to grow. Just stick some seeds in a pot, I guaruntee in about a month you'll have some you can harvest. They're incredibly hearty.

And everyone has different levels of domesticality, I'm sure Garth loves you for your microwave burritos just as much.

You're a great wife! I must say, my domestic skills have slowed a bit since chemo started. I'm hoping to pick them up again soon! Good job, Lindsey! Being a wife is a high calling!

You are such a sweetheart. I'm sure Garth doesn't expect that and you are a wonderful wife even without homemade items.

But, your meal sounds YUM-tastic. Great job!

How funny! If I were you I would have looked at the camera and said, "just kidding, just kidding - I cook EVERY NIGHT" just to avoid being taped. :)

See I knew it, I knew we were seperated at birth too!! Hee hee.

I knew there was a reason you were my favorite bloggy friend!!!

That was so much fun to do, and to see the things that he came up with. Are you going to see if Garth will do it? I would love to read it!!

What is your car's name?

I haven't watched Extreme Makeover in weeks but I have them on my DVR and I am so going to have to get caught up on them, but I don't think I could watch more than one in a night, I don't think my lil heart could take it. lol

First I have to say that I think it is amazing that your church has live interviews at the beginning of the service - I need to pass that one along to Luke.
Second, You are a GREAT wife, whether you are eating fast food or cooking healthy pasta :-)

Well good for you. I am not much of a cooker here but I have gotten better.

haha I would have been so embarrassed, not necessarily about not being domestic, but just at the fact of all those people!

I suspect you are indeed a stellar wife!

You don't have to be domestic to be a stellar wife...but it is sweet to cook a nice dinner now and then. :-)

You should be so proud of yourself! It is hard to become domestic over night. Garth sounds so sweet and understanding, no complaining. Have a wonderful weekend and bake something delicious!

Great job!!! I love pasta!!
Just a tip, if you buy the dried basil leaves in the spice aisle, and let them sit in a bowl mixed with your olive oil while you cook/drain your pasta and finish everything else up, they will soften up by the time you are ready to add them.
Spices are incredibly easy to grow as well. Small simple pots, is about all you need.
Also Ceaser salad is one of my favs!!!
