Saturday we hung out with our small group for the first time outside of our Bible Study. It was awesome! We get along so well. I think it's because we have many things in common, like we all love sushi, God and board games! So Saturday we met for sushi, went to church and then had a game night. We laughed, played a ridiculous amount of board games, ate good food and enjoyed each other. I think we will be doing that again soon!
Sunday we were able to sleep in, watch movies, and eat pizza. Then we went to the soup kitchen to help put on a Thanksgiving meal. It turns out they were over staffed in the kitchen, so Garth and I were able to hang out with the kids most of the time we were there. It was awesome! These kids made us laugh and they loved the attention we were giving them.
It broke my heart to hear their dad is in jail and they don't see their older brother very often. One of the boys said he was thanksful that he saw his brother after 5 months today, tear! Another boy was begging Garth and I to take him to church and it broke our hearts because we wanted to so badly. I wanted to adopt them all and take them to the zoo, which they have never been before!
My favorite part was when this one boy practiced reading Obama's speech for us in preparation for presenting it at school today.
It is such an eye opening experience and I can't wait to go back!

My family and I used to volunteer to help serve thanksgiving dinner to a charity (I cant remember what it was now, it was so long ago) but your post makes me want to get back into doing something like that!
