Proud to be an American

A few weeks ago Garth filled out his application for American citizenship. The cost? $700! Garth's response: "Well, that is the cost of freedom." AW!
Now we wait. His application is in review and we are anxiously awaiting a letter telling us when he takes his test. We have been looking over the study guide and it's pretty intense. There are some easy questions like 'what do the stars and stripes mean' but there are some tough ones like 'name all your congressmen.' Yikes!
It's so cute because Garth is really excited! I take for granted that I get to vote next Tuesday, but Garth doesn't have that privilege yet. Let me tell you though, he is counting down until the next election!
I'm learning all I ever wanted to know about the naturalization process and American History!

FYI: Garth is from South Africa. He came to the US about 12 years ago, BUT he still has the accent and I love it!=)

It is sad but I think I probably would have a hard time w/ that test and I am an American... I just don't know my American history like I should...

Wow, I know it must be so hard to become a citizen, but that's so cool that he is so dedicated to it. Especially awesome that he is so eager to participate in the voting process. SO MANY Americans take that foregranted.

How exciting for you both. Those of us who have lived here our whole lives do indeed take a lot of things for granted.

What is so wonderful! It makes me sad they make the tests so darn hard! I took on online, a pretend one and I totally failed!

Wait a minute. I feel so out of the loop. Where is Garth from, and how did I now know he wasn't from the US!?

It's funny how they ask those questions and I born and raised in the US have no clue as to those answers LOL

What a perfect response! I love it :) Also, I'm super jealous that you're married to a man with an accent...especially the sexiest accent in my opinion!

Wow. Tell him good luck for me! And good luck to you with helping him study! I really wish I could say that I knew I would do really well on the test that he is going to take, but I can't.

Have a great weekend!!!

Congrats to Garth! My hubby got his green card this year and that was exciting, so I can imagine obtaining citizenship! Be sure to celebrate in style once the process is complete! :)
