G and I booked a fun road trip to the beach months ago and it finally arrived! We dropped Manny off and hit the road.
I found the most charming, romantic airbnb in Perrsyburg, Ohio right on the Maumee River.
It was a rustic little cabin attached to a gorgeous house and it was so cozy and fun.
That view though!
We enjoyed cocktails and dinner at 5th Street Pub.
I'm not even kidding you, they had the best pizza I ever had. It was so fresh and flavorful and cooked to perfection.
After dinner we explored the town. The Farmer's Market was going on so it was fun to walk around and check everything out. We went to the park and explored the history and the river.
Then we did a wine tasting at Zinful. This place was so cute and the people were so friendly. We drank good wine and chatted with the locals.
We came back to our airbnb and sat on the dock, put our feet in the water and enjoyed the show.
It was such a gorgeous sunset!
Friday morning we drank coffee, ate leftover pizza and hit the road.
It was a beautiful morning for a long drive.
After a good four hours we stopped for drinks and lunch at Ale House 1890. One of the main reasons I enjoy driving over flying is to explore cute little towns along the way and finding top rated Yelp restaurants to try.
More driving in the beautiful hills of West Virginia.
We made it to our destination! Winston-Salem, NC is such a cool city. I wish we had more time to explore. Did you know the Empire State Building was modeled after the Reynolds Building (not pictured above) in Winston-Salem and every Father's Day the Empire State Building sends the Reynolds Building a Father's Day card? I love that! It was such a quick trip we didn't get to see the Reynolds Building. We must go back!
We stayed at the Brookstown Inn Hotel and I could not say enough good things about this place. It was so eclectic and charming with so much history. We were upgraded to this crazy big hotel room. What a great end to a long day on the road!
The next morning we had an amazing breakfast at the hotel. We walked around the city for a little bit before hitting the road to get to the beach.
Stay tuned for the second part of our trip!
